1 in 10 women has endometriosis, and many of them are completely unaware. This is because endometriosis tends to be a “silent” disease and symptoms can be difficult to recognize.
The most common symptoms of endometriosis are:
- Painful Periods
- Pain when moving your pelvis (ie; during bowel movements, urination, intercourse)
- Excessive bleeding and incredibly heavy periods
- Irregular bleeding (between periods)
- Infertility and subfertility
Endometriosis can contribute to infertility, but not everyone who has it is infertile. But many people that do have it are unable to get pregnant due to endometriosis. Consult your family doctor if you suspect you might suffer from endometriosis. Once you have your diagnosis, the next step is to come to see a Doctor of Acupuncture, so that we can regulate your cycles, reduce heavy periods, support your overall health, and assist you with your fertility when you are ready to conceive. People who have endometriosis that come for acupuncture usually have;
- Lighter periods
- More regulated cycles
- Less bleeding between periods
- Less pain through your pelvis
- Improved fertility
