Your midwife or OB are your go to health care providers while you are pregnant.
Your family doctor/general practitioner: Will refer you to your OB or tell you to apply for your midwife online. They can be helpful, but they are not usually your go to for everything pregnancy related.
Your pharmacist: they help ensure your medications are safe for pregnancy and answer any questions you have regarding over the counter medications as well.
Your acupuncturist: They will help with nausea, pain in pregnancy, heartburn, fatigue, edema, breech presentation and birth preparation. They support your health concerns, but they do not offer cervical checks, blood pressure check, or other prenatal health concerns.
Your partner: They are usually a non-healthcare support and they are there to support and care for you during pregnancy, labour, and postpartum.
Your labour doula: They are a non-healthcare labour coach. They help you move into new positions and they are helping hands during labour.
Your postpartum doula: They are a non-healthcare postpartum support. They can watch the baby while you sleep, they can cook, clean, and/or help with infant care.
Your lactation consultant: They are a health care provider to support the breastfeeding/chest feeding dyad.
